Forthcoming concert features works by Mozart and Strauss
West London Sinfonia (WLS) will be performing a concert titled ‘A Hero’s Life’ on Saturday 8 June at St Barnabas Church, Ealing, W5 at 7.30pm.
The concert will feature two prominent works: Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 22 in E-flat major, K.482 and Strauss’ Ein Heldenleben. Mozart’s Piano Concerto is particularly notable as it is the first time that Mozart uses clarinets in a concerto and they make a first solo appearance only nine bars into the score. British pianist Ashley Fripp is the soloist for Mozart’s Concerto who has performed extensively as recitalist, chamber musician and concerto soloist throughout Europe, Asia, North America, Africa and Australia in many of the world’s most prestigious concert halls. He has won prizes at more than a dozen national and international competitions, including at the Hamamatsu (Japan), Birmingham and Leeds International Piano Competitions, the Royal Over-Seas League Competition, the Concours Européen de Piano (France) and the coveted Gold Medal from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Strauss’ Ein Heldenleben ‘A Hero’s Life’ Op. 40 is a tone poem by Richard Strauss which was completed in 1898.
