A new pop-up roller skating rink will open in Dean Gardens, West Ealing, later this month.

Ealing Council has worked with charity Rolla Dome All Skate and not-for-profit specialist event organisation, Conscious, to bring the rink to West Ealing and encourage visitors to the town.

The skating rink will open on Saturday, 16 August for two weeks and will offer everything from roller disco nights, with DJs playing live music, to daytime skating sessions and lessons for all the family.  Each session costs between £7 and £10 and needs to be booked and paid for online in advance from www.rolladome.org.uk (skates are included but people can use their own).

Councillor Julian Bell, leader of the council, said: “In Ealing we are lucky to have lots of green parks and open spaces and it’s great to see Dean Gardens used in a creative and imaginative way that will appeal to a wide range of ages. A skating rink is definitely a great way to get active while having fun.”

It will be open from 10am until 10pm Sunday to Thursday, and 10am until 11pm Friday and Saturday.

The rink will allow a maximum of 50 people to skate at one time and there will be a seated area for spectators. The rink will close on Friday, 29 August.  For more information visit www.rolladome.org.uk

All the money raised will go to cover the cost of the event and start an ongoing, after-school and weekend skating club for young people in West Ealing.

There will be a mixture of additional activities set-up around the rink during the day, including arts and crafts, health and beauty and how to re-use old clothing.
