London Assurance by Dion Boucicault, is a complete delight of comic nonsense presented by The Questors Theatre from 1st November for one week.

Staged in the newly-named Judi Dench Playhouse, this Questors production is a perfectly delicious Regency romp with classic setting and costumes, but using the refreshed modern language of the Richard Bean script that was such a smash hit in the recent revival at The National Theatre.   It’s a familiar tale of city sophistication and country simplicity that includes a foolish older man chasing a young heiress, who is simultaneously pursued by his own son in disguise. Meanwhile, an array of characters called  Lady Gay Spanker, Meddle, Cool, Dazzle and Pert live up to their names and create havoc as the action moves from London to deepest Gloucestershire.
