The new season of plays at Questors in Ealing features plays ranging from a work written by a teenager to Ibsen.

The three plays being performed in January and February are That Face by Polly Stenham, Rutherford & Son by Githa Sowerby and Ibsen’s Rosmersholm.

Polly Stenham, wrote That Face aged just 19 and when it was staged at the Royal Court Theatre the Daily Telegraph’s reviewer commented, ‘This is one of the most astonishing debuts I have seen in more than 30 years of theatre reviewing’.

It is the story of Martha who is falling apart and developing a dependence on alcohol and drugs. Her ex-husband flies in from Hong Kong to help but becomes part of the problem not the solution.

It is being performed in the Studio Theatre from 25 January to 2 February and is suitable for those aged 14+ (some strong language used).

Tickets: £14 (£12 concessions, £7 under-16/student). Final Friday and Saturday: £18 (£15 concessions, £9.50 under-16/student). First night only: £7

Rutherford and Son by Githa Sowerby received huge acclaim when first staged in 1912 and has been described as a modern classic.

Many consider Rosmersholm to be one of Ibsen’s finest works. At Rosmersholm, Johannes Rosmer’s thoughts are dominated by the suicide of his wife, Beata.

He has since cast off religion, his conservative friendships and family traditions. Supporting the radicals, he wants to inject idealism into the minds of the people. But brother-in-law Magnus is determined to stop him.

As Rebecca, the independent and outspoken companion of Beata, holds sway over Rosmersholm, Magnus begins to unravel layers of secrets about the younger woman and forces her to come to terms with them.
