In 2017 Hull is the U.K.'s city of culture, but from 27 June The Questors Theatre in Ealing will be transformed into Hull University Library for Ben Brown’s play Larkin with Women about the life of the poet Philip Larkin.

The play explores the complex relationships between Larkin, one of England’s most famous post-war poets, his poetry, his work as Hull University librarian and above all, the three women who sustained and dominated his life: Monica Jones, an outspoken and raunchy academic; Maeve Brennan, a colleague in the library with whom Larkin was infatuated and Betty Mackereth, the poet's loyal, long-suffering and pragmatic secretary. In a succession of short and pithy scenes the play moves Larkin from woman to woman over a period of 30 years.
The play aims to take us behind façade of the ‘Bard of Humberside' and into his complex private life.

Larkin with Women runs in the studio, The Questors Theatre, Mattock Lane, Ealing, W5 5BQ from Tuesday 27 June to Saturday 1 July at 7.45 pm with a matinée on Saturday 1 July at 2.30 pm.

The playwright himself will attend the matinee and will participate in a Q&A afterwards.
