We're still without a permanent cinema but for two days this summer Ealing will remember what it was like to have one.

The borough’s first ever pop-up cinema is the surprise addition to the Ealing Summer Festivals line-up.

Taking place on Sunday 14 and Monday 15 July, Ealing Summer Screenings presented by Nomad will take place in the big top tent in Walpole Park.

Kids rock musical ‘The School of Rock’ (PG) will kick start festivities at a family-friendly matinee session on Sunday. The 2003 film follows wannabe rock star, Dewey Finn (Jack Black), who poses as a substitute teacher at a prep school and tries to turn his class into a rock band.

In the evening session is the ever popular parody documentary ‘This is Spinal Tap’ (M15). Bringing together comedy and rock music, this 1982 film follows spoof British heavy metal group Spinal Tap as they attempt a comeback tour in America with a film-maker fan Marti DiBergi in tow.

The final screening on Monday evening will treat audiences to a special edition of BFI’s sell-out music video show, BUG, with comedian Adam Buxton as the live host. 'Nomad presents Adam Buxton's Best of BUG' is a unique combination of inspiring music videos rarely seen on a big screen (or even a TV screen), some incredible online discoveries and hilarious insights into the online community from recent BFI shows.

Nomad Cinema is known for hosting festival-style outdoor cinema events with a twist and, as a social enterprise company, donate 100% of their profits to charity.

Leader of Ealing Council, Councillor Julian Bell, said: “Central Ealing has been without a cinema for over four years, so I’m absolutely thrilled that outdoor films will be offered as part of the Ealing Summer Festivals. The team at Nomad have cleverly crafted a cinema programme to compliment and build upon the existing summer festival events.

“I’m looking forward to a busy and exciting summer ahead, and hope all residents as well as people from further afield get the chance to enjoy the summer festivals while soaking up Ealing’s fantastic outdoor spaces.”

Tickets for Ealing Summer Screenings presented by Nomad will be available to purchase in advance. Look out for details in the coming weeks.
