The Perivale 5 is a 5-mile open road race organised by Ealing Southall & Middlesex AC from its base at Perivale Park Athletics Track. It’s a well-established fixture in the running calendar, being now in its 18th year. Runners of all ages and abilities are welcome to take part, (subject to the statutory minimum age of 15), and it has attractions for both the serious club runner and the beginner.

For the less experienced runner, five miles is an accessible distance and an obvious first step up for local parkrunners accustomed to the 5km. For those inspired to tackle the Ealing Half next year, the race is a good way to start their build up. With an entry limit of 400, the event has a low-key and friendly atmosphere. At the end of the race, runners can enjoy a “grandstand finish” on the athletics track, before being rewarded with their complimentary race T-Shirt in a quality technical fabric. Free post-race massage is also available, and refreshments are on sale in the clubhouse, including an impressive selection of home-made cakes.

The two-lap course is fast and flat for those hoping to achieve a personal best, and pacemakers will be provided for those wishing to hit a particular time target. There is a wide range of prizes: first, second and third male and female, key male and female veteran age groups, the overall best age-graded performance of the day, and the fastest local male and female not attached to a running or triathlon club. The first male and female teams of three are also acknowledged.

Race entry is £12 for UKA affiliated runners and £14 for others. Online entry is available or entry forms can be downloaded from www.esm.org.uk.

The Perivale 2km Fun Run - 11:15am

The Fun Run is for under 15s, and takes place once the 5 mile race is over. Parents of younger children are welcome to accompany them round the course. It starts and finishes on the athletics track, and there is a quality medal for all finishers. Race entry is just £2. Online entry is available or entry forms can be downloaded as before.
