OPEN Ealing play

George Crocker is keen to liven up his dull life so he decides to join the village Drama Club. What happens then turns his world upside down.

Set during the Second World War this nostalgic, funny and moving story will appeal to all, from ten years and up. It is a vivid portrait of village life with all seventeen colourful characters played by one man.

Sandy Holt writes in The Stratford Herald  – “Into a thousand parts divide one man!” – this could describe Mark Careys’ one man show. The show focuses on Shakespeares’ Henry V but revolves around George Crocker an amateur actor whose ambition is to play Mother Goose. This may seem a light folly but this play written, directed and acted by Carey, is full of  substance. For the full article click here.

‘I was glued to my seat’ – Count Arthur Strong, TV and radio star.

Mark Carey has been an actor and a writer for over thirty years. Brought up in Exeter Mark decided he wanted to be an actor when working on The Onedin Line for the BBC, when he was thirteen. He trained at The Central School of Speech and Drama and has been extremely busy pre and post graduating working with many familiar names. He has worked in Rep all over the country, likewise as an actor where he has appeared in the west end. He has many radio appearances to his credit. Mark has always been writing, mainly plays but also very poor and pretentious poetry. Despite the poor quality he won the Hackney poetry competition in 1984.
His play The Last Country House, of course set in Devon, was broadcast on BBC Radio four in 2003 and in 2012 Mark wrote Magic Moments a community play about the village where he now lives, in the 1950s.  His adaptation of A Christmas Carol has been produced several times here and in America.
Mark lives in the Cotswolds and spends his time chasing after his two kids, writing, reading, walking, painting and decorating and following his beloved Exeter City.
Into the Breach has been touring since November 2013.
