OPEN Ealing will be hosting an event featuring Nayma Chamchoun, a British Moroccan self-taught writer and poet.
It is taking place on Thursday, 14 December from 7pm – 8.30pm at Dickens Yard, Ealing Broadway.
Nayma’s work is influenced by her cultural duality. She says she is interested in female voices in the diaspora community, the challenges they face within both communities, and the taboos around mental health within their ancestral communities.
She is an active member of London's Poetry and Spoken Word community, the international Poetry community online, and has performed her work at several Poetry Open Mike events including the Grenfell five-year anniversary. Her work has featured on West Wiltshire Radio & BBC Radio London several times.
Her first published collection, Covid: The Wordy Wilds of a Mind Under Lockdown, is a cultural fusion poetry collection which explores themes of identity, duality, displacement, loss, race, feminism, culture, family, love and the search for inner peace as experienced alongside the effects of mental health, menopause, the pandemic and world events.

OPEN Ealing is an arts organisation based in Ealing. It has been delivering a programme of creative projects and activities for 10 years. Its aim is to introduce a refreshing cultural space and exciting arts programmes to the community by bringing artists, performers, art groups and residents together, promoting creativity and creating new opportunities.
