A new monthly market selling world food and crafts is being launched in Southall by Ealing Council, in partnership with  the University of West London this weekend.

Opening on Sunday, 7 September, it will then be held on the first Sunday of every month; running from 12 to 4pm in the newly created Southall Square, High Street, Southall UB1 3DG (next to Lidl).

There will also be live entertainment happening each month including music performances, exhibitions and live cooking demonstrations. This Sunday there will be a screening of Bugs Bunny for the kids from 1 to 3pm, as well as live music performances throughout the day.

Council leader, Julian Bell says: “Southall is a vibrant area in Ealing. This new monthly market will complement what is already on offer and will bring together a mixture of global goods to make it one of London’s destination markets”.

The market stalls and entertainment will vary each month, always offering something new.

The Southall Monthly Market is part of the Southall Big Plan (SBP)  project, delivered by the Southall Partnership. The SBP is made up of different projects that will help to improve Southall, details can be found at www.southallbigplan.com. The Mayor of London has pledged £3.5 million to support regeneration projects in the area.
