Hanwell carnival

Hanwell Carnival is happening this Saturday, 18 June, in Elthorne Park from 12-6pm.

Hanwell carnival

As per tradition, it kicks off with a parade which leaves from Hanwell Community Centre in Westcott Crescent and makes its noisy and colourful way through Hanwell to the park.

The procession theme for 2016 is Fairytale of Hanwell, so watch out for “CinderWella”, the Little Mermaid, the Pied Piper, “Hanwell and Gretel” and the Viaduct with Thomas the Tank Engine and Humpty Dumpty.

All the old favourites will be at the park - the dog show, funfair, animal zone, music stages - but there is one big change to watch out for. This year, carnival is not just in the main park but also in the rear extension.

The main stages, beer, food and some commercial stalls will be at the back. The fairground, children’s attractions, dog show, acoustic tent and charity stalls will remain in the main section.

On the sporting front, carnival is delighted to welcome Brentford Football Club and Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Club for their inaugural year. They will be running the sports zone where there will be football and rugby, obviously, and also Ultimate Frisbee, basketball and Dodgeball.

Entry into the park is free. The only thing left to say is - keep your collective fingers crossed for a rain-free day.
