Planning Ahead For Carnival 2016
Hanwell organisers looking for sponsors and volunteers
The team behind Hanwell Carnival has already started planning for 2016’s event and there are some big changes afoot.
Partly because of building work at Elthorne Park High School, the carnival will be held not just in the main park but also in the rear extension.
The main stages, beer, food and some commercial stalls will be at the back. The fairground, children’s attractions, dog show, acoustic tent and charity stalls will remain in the main section.
Dan Giarraputo, who is responsible for carnival’s park planning and its health and safety, says the extra space is much needed.
“This will make everything more manageable and comfortable – it’s been quite a squeeze to get everything in sometimes,” he said.
There is also a new website on the way courtesy of Darren Moore of Now Communications in Brentford. It will be up and running in February.
Carnival 2015 was a great success, with more than 20,000 people descending on Elthorne Park for all the fun of the fair.
More than 400 people took part in the procession, which featured schools, sports clubs and charities, and the theme of Historical Hanwell produced some fabulous costumes and sounds.
As ever, the team needs lots of help and ideas. Carnival is run by the community for the community, so people are needed to help plan and organise.
We also need sponsorship, which gives businesses a huge profile and helps keep costs down for carnival goers.
You can contact Hanwell Carnival via their Facebook and Twitter accounts – or via their existing website.
Hanwell Carnival will take place on Saturday 18 June. Entry into Elthorne Park is free.
