Plans for this year’s Hanwell Carnival – London’s longest running – are nearing completion. The popular annual event takes place on Saturday June 17th in Elthorne Park on Boston Road.

Once again, the carnival will use not only the front section of the park but also the back field where the main stages will be (alongside the beer tent). And headlining on the main music stage (and quite possibly the beer tent too) will be west London’s favourite Irish rock band – The Bible code Sundays, “We’ve bee trying to get them for years” says carnival head honcho, Mike Gahan  so we are thrilled that they are coming”  Other acts lined up include Andre Creates – a young rapper from north Hanwell. There is a popular Acoustic stage too with acts featuring rock , Latin Jazz and R&B and the Community Stage showcasing all sorts of local talent from Morris Dancing to the Urban Fox Steel Band.

Hanwell is one of the few carnivals to maintain a parade. Be on the streets from the Community Centre down to the park if you want to see fabulous floats and costumes, This year the theme is “Hanwell at the Movies” so expect some real Hollywood glamour.

Their most popular attraction – an Animal Zone where children can ride ponies, get up close with farm animals is back and also features this year the chance to shake hands with lizards snakes  and other creepy crawlies.

It’s not just on the stages where you can see the talents of we west Londoners - there is a stunning array of arts and crafts too in the Craft Tent.
