Any young ladies in Hanwell who fancy being this year’s Carnival Queen or Princess need to get their skates on, and their entries in because March 28th is the day the judges will make their selection.

To be Carnival Queen you have to be 16 or above – and to be the Princess you need to be 11 or older.

Both will be treated like proper royalty on the day – June 18th – as in the morning they get their hair and make up done. Then, dressed in outfits that they have helped design, which Ealing designer Barbara Tobias will make, they officially open the Carnival.

Carnival chairman Colin Chalmers says “It’s NOT an old fashioned beauty pageant. What we are looking for is personality, a sunny disposition and a positive outlook on life – they will be representing Hanwell at various events over the following twelve months.”

If you want to enter, the Carnival’s website is www.hanwellcarnival.co.uk - look for ‘get involved’ and put in your details.
