Ealing Golf Club’s England Junior, Pavan Sagoo and former Ealing member Yasin Ali are just one step away from playing in this year’s Open Championship at Muirfield.

Both qualified by coming high in a strong field at this week’s Open Regional Qualifier at the Buckinghamshire Golf Club, Pavan coming second behind Tour player Zane Scotland with a 3 under par 69 and Yasin not far behind with 71.

Both will now play in Final Open Qualifiers held in Scotland next week. Former Ealing prodigy Yasin joined the Professional ranks and is enjoying a successful career based out of Dubai.

17 year-old Pavan hopes to match or better Ealing Director of Golf Ricky Willison’s achievement of winning the Amateur Bronze Medal in the 1987 Open Championship, also coincidentally held at Muirfiield.

Ricky and everyone at Ealing Golf Club will be rooting for them next week: “A few years ago, EGC was constantly making news because of the success of their members. On one occasion we had 3 members play in consecutive Open Championships. I see those days returning with the exploits of young Aadam Syed and now Pav & Yas.”
