The Reluctant Runner is...Volunteering | |||||
You can too and help spread the Ealing Feeling
So after a summer of injury - the traditional running one - plantar fasciitis - and the not so traditional one caused by my efforts at trampolining (yes really) I will not be attempting the Ealing Half this year. A sigh of relief can be heard throughout Ealing; now roads can open earlier because the slowest most reluctant runner in town won't be the last person to finish, way way behind everyone else. I'm a little bit sad ... only a little bit mind... because oh I do so love that FINISH line, but I won't be missing out on the experience completely. I'm going to be joining the merry band of volunteers who are absolutely crucial for the success of the day. I remember from my previous THREE Ealing Half Marathons the huge difference they all made and hopefully I will be able to do the same for everyone taking part this year - especially those right at the back! The Ealing Half Marathon is now just a couple of weeks away and there are just a few places left before it's sold out. But volunteers are still needed. It's a great way to give back and help out at the UK's No1 Half Marathon. As a not-for-profit Community Interest Company, volunteers help create this special experience once a year. Not only is it a great community event but each registered volunteer who completes their role gets a free t-shirt, medal, breakfast roll, drink AND a FREE race place for the following years event so it’s a great incentive. There is also a prize draw after the event for 4 lucky volunteers to win sports vouchers from Up & Running and one luck winner of a Magnum of Champagne!
Hope to see you there!
