Ealing Project opens its doors to the local community
Ealing’s new cinema, the Ealing Project, is throwing open its doors this Monday (19 September) for a free screening of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. The intention is to enable those unable to make it into London to experience the occasion with other members of the local community. Crowded streets and transport will mean that many will not be able to get close to the event on the day. Ealing Project will screen the proceedings from BBC throughout the day from 9:30am, instead of film screenings. There is no need to book tickets, just turn up any time after 9.30am. General Manager Andrew Carruthers of Ealing Project commented, “The Queen has dedicated 70 years of her life to the country and the service on Monday is a historical and important moment that people want to experience together. Our cinema won’t be showing films as a mark of respect, so we felt that it was right that we allowed the local community to come together and use our space to pay their respects if they wish.”
