Mitch Benn at The Drayton | |||||
Friday July 11th
There is another great double bill of comedy at the Drayton on July 11 when MITCH BENN and US TV star AL LUBEL come to West Ealing. Benn is not only one of the most sought-after acts on the comedy circuit but is widely acknowledged as one of the best writer/performers of comic songs in the country. Three series of his successful Radio 4 show, "Mitch Benn's Crimes Against Music" have been broadcast so far. He also presents "The Mitch Benn Music Show" on BBC Radio and appears regularly on BBC1's "The One Show" as the writer and arranger of "The Complaints Choir". Benn is joined by American TV star Al Lubel. a “terrifically funny comedian” according to David Letterman. Lubel started off as a lawyer (to please his mum) and became a comedian to please himself (which did not please his mum). After graduating from law school in Florida, Al moved to Los Angeles, passed the California Bar Exam but chose to pursue a career as a stand-up comedian rather than a lawyer. After quitting law, within a year he won the $100,000 Grand Prize for comedy on Star Search. Apearing on the The Tonight Show was a childhood fantasy, so when Al heard that Johnny Carson was retiring, he auditioned and became one of the last comics to appear with Carson.
