New Ealing Hotel Enjoys a Party Night | |||||
And our trusty reporter Viv Ellis was naturally there
The DoubleTree hotel on Hangar Lane opened its doors this week. The hotel has undergone a £10 million refurbishment. Ealing’s Mayor Councillor Kamaljit Dhindsa did the honours, cutting the official red ribbon. The launch “do” was packed, and we were treated to cocktails and nibbles and a jazz band before being shown around. It certainly looks lovely with a ‘nature-inspired’ colour scheme of greens, golds and browns. Both of the rooms I was shown had posh coffee machines, docking stations and very nice, bouncy mattresses (yes, I tried them both) and despite the fact that they were both at the front were very quiet. The menu for the restaurant – which is open to the public- promises locally- sourced ingredients and features healthy sounding grill dishes. Of course the whole hotel is no smoking. I nipped outside for a ciggie and fell into conversation with a couple of guys from Birmingham (my home town) who said they were down on a business trip. They were very impressed not only with the hotel bit also that their company had booked them in there. Their company? Enterprise. I made my excuses and left.
