A local home care company - with the help of community donations - has put on a spread for dementia sufferers and helped raise hundreds of pounds of funds.

Care Concern Homecare Ltd are a domiciliary care company who look after elderly clients - many of whom are also helped by the Ealing charity Dementia Concern.

Last week they hosted a tea party attended by around 40 people and supported by many Ealing businesses including restaurants, pubs and shops,

Through the raffle they managed to raised £821 for Dementia Concern.

Catherine Gunnewicht from Care Concern Homecare Ltd said:

''Apart from the money raised, we feel we enabled many older people to have an enjoyable, sociable afternoon and we also feel we are helping to raise awareness of dementia, an illness which is on the increase.

''This is particularly relevant at this time as the Alzheimer’s Society has announced it has hit its target of signing up a million people to its Dementia Friends campaign.

''This campaign was launched in February 2013 to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding faced by people with Alzheimer’s.

We hope that more people will become aware of the campaign and sign up!''
