A beautiful Sunday saw thousands flock to West Ealing to take part and watch the annual chariot festival.

The Hindu event celebrates the victory of Murugan - the god of war -over a demon using a special spear known as a 'vel'.

The colourful spectacle has been captured by local photographer Liz Jenner who has kindly shared some of her images with us.

Women wear traditional dress and carry pots of milk on their head to show their devotion.

Whilst men devotees roll along the road as an act of sacrifice.

Brightly-decorated chariots are carried by members of the community, music is played and whole familes enjoy the special day of celebration.
