Hanwell Carnival’s attempt to get into the Guinness Book Of World Records TM on Sunday was beaten by the terrible weather. Undeterred, there will be another attempt at the Carnival itself this coming Saturday .

The record they are trying to achieve is the largest gathering of people wearing dressing gowns. They need 250 to succeed.

On Sunday, 190 people braved the cold and rain and went to St Mark’s School. One, Chantelle Jackson who was born and bred in Hanwell came all the way from Tunbridge Wells where she now lives to join in. “It was such fun despite the rain and the true Hanwellian spirit in all of us shone through! Here's to attempt two! We'll succeed at the carnival!

The organizers are planning to have a ‘cloakroom’ where you can leave your dressing gown while you enjoy the events in Elthorne Park. Then at 4pm everyone taking part will be summoned by the EmCee to the Community Stage.

Further details will be posted on www.hanwellcarnival.co.uk ,
