Free Bike Rides In Ealing

Enjoy guided rides throughout the borough

Residents can explore Ealing on two wheels on Sunday, 28 June to celebrate National Bike Week.

Each ride will be led by experienced, qualified cycling instructors and the event is open to cyclists of all levels, but is likely to be of particular interest to family groups, nervous riders, or people who want to return to cycling.

Rides set out every hour, on the hour, between 10am and 3pm. They will depart from two locations – Northala Fields by the cafe, and at the bandstand in Churchfields Recreation Ground, Hanwell, beside Brent Lodge Park.

The ride is less than 10 miles and explores Southall, Greenford and Hanwell's landscape – historic, modern, green spaces and canal tow paths. Cyclists can choose to ride only part of the route if they prefer. All children between 3 and 12 who cycle the whole route can claim a special gift bag by getting their map stamped with ‘Ticket to Ride’ stamps at each hub!

There will be plenty of activities going on at the hubs with free Dr Bike cycle health checks and bike security marking by police officers taking place throughout the day. Cyclists can also find out about Ealing’s cycling activities and training, have a go at BMX biking and there will be fun activities for children, such as face painting.

Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for transport, environment and leisure, said: “It is a fun event for all the family and last year more than 300 cyclists of all ages took part.  This time the route covers some absolutely stunning spots across the borough, which can all be explored on a bike.  It's a great day out for everyone, even if you haven't been on a bike for a while and want to ride with others in an encouraging environment.”
