On Tuesday 28 September The Arts Society Ealing will be hosting its first ever special interest day.

There will be a full day including three one hour lectures on the subject of The Early Renaissance North & South of the Alps. The event is being held from 10:30am to 3:15pm at the Ealing Golf Club, Perivale Lane, Greenford UB6 8TS.

Clare Ford-Wille, the lecturer for the day, is an independent art historian, well known for her courses on European art, architecture and sculpture at the University of London, the Art Fund, the National Trust, the National Gallery and the V&A. Clare also leads art study tours throughout Europe and the USA.

During the 15th century in Europe, both north and south of the Alps, in Italy, the Netherlands, and Central Europe, there was an extraordinary blossoming of painting, sculpture and manuscript illumination. New ideas from an interest in classical antiquity, to the observation of everyday life and new subject matter, emerged in one of the richest periods in art history, from the frescoes of Fra Angelico and luxuriant oil paintings by Jan van Eyck and Lochner to the intriguing works of Botticelli, Michelangelo and Hieronymus Bosch.

The Arts Society Ealing day seeks to compare and contrast the work and careers of artists during this fascinating century.

Tickets cost £35 and include all three lectures, coffee on arrival & mid-morning and a sandwich lunch.
