Star of Grumpy Old Men Arthur Smith, headlines the No5 Club at the Drayton on October 4.
Here are some interesting things about him: In 2010 Smith banned all reviewers from his Edinburgh show unless they could juggle three kippers onstage, which seems fair enough.

In 2005, he turned down a lifetime achievement award from the Perrier Award organisers. “They wanted to tell me I was old and cool, ” he said. “Well, I know that already, and my ego is bloated enough.”

Smith describes himself as the self appointed “Night Mayor of Balham”, where he lives. “I don't do days”.

In 2009 he broadcast a comedy series for BBC Radio 4 from his home called Arthur Smith’s Balham Bash. He is currently the host of ‘Arthur Smith's Comedy Club’ on Radio 4 Extra and is also presenter on Radio 4 programmes Excess Baggage and Loose Ends. He appears on television comedy panel games.

Smith is joined on the bill by the up and coming Mark Smith, plus special guests acts and Channel Four favourite Mark Dolan as MC.

The press on Arthur Smith:

“Arthur Smith is the funniest and most honest comic of his generation, and has no need for reviews or critics.” The List
“A man of the people,” The Stage.
