This week Professor Simon Harding, a crime specialist from the University of West London, will be delivering a free lecture on the evolution of UK urban street gangs and why youth violence has both changed and increased.

The Professor of Criminology, who recently gave evidence to the Home Affairs Select Committee, will draw on his experience as an expert adviser to the Government, Home Office and Metropolitan Police Service.

During the lecture, Professor Harding will explain how UK street gangs have grown over the past 20 years, how this expansion has been exacerbated by austerity and why youth violence is suddenly increasing across England.

The lecture will take place at the University of West London on Thursday 11 April at 5.30pm. Free tickets can be obtained online.
