Ealing’s favourite Christmas card retailer, the Ealing Charity Christmas Card Shop, has opened its doors for the 35th year.

The volunteer-run shop at the Church of Christ the Saviour, New Broadway was officially opened by Stephen Pound MP and the Mayor of Ealing Cllr. Dr. Abdullah Gulaid. The shop sells cards from over 30 charities and is unique because it is one of only a few charity card shops where 100% of the money raised goes to charity.

Organiser and founder Sue Green, who was recognised for her charitable endeavours with an MBE in the 2017 Honours List, said, ‘We are delighted to be opening today for our 35th year. Our main aim for The Ealing Charity Christmas Card shop is to raise as much money as we can for charity, and it’s our incredible army of volunteers who make this possible. We are so lucky to have the help of over 70 volunteers who work tirelessly to keep the shop running six days a week in the run up to the festive period. It’s because of them that we’ve been able to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for many different charities since we started in 1985.’

Last year the shop raised over £24,000 for over 30 charities, and more than 100 charities have been supported by the shop over the years.

The Ealing Charity Christmas Card will be open from Mondays to Saturdays 10am until 5pm until Thursday 19 December; it is based at the Church of Christ the Saviour, New Broadway, Ealing, W5 2XA
