Steve Pound MP talks to the children at Woodlands Academy

A new primary school Woodlands Academy (previously Hathaway Primary) has celebrated it's opening as part of the newly established Grand Union Multi Academy Trust.

The Primary School on Hathaway Gardens in W13, paid host to a range of guests from the local community and in a special assembly, children were given an inspiring message from Steve Pound MP.

Mr Pound began by remarking:  "It's Spring Time here in W13! This is a fresh start and a new beginning for a truly wonderful school."

He went on to ask the children about the careers they hoped to pursue and remarked that "the really polite children and sheer hard work I have witnessed today will undoubtedly help make your dreams come true."

The Grand Union MAT was set up by Featherstone High School and is the first school led Multi Academy Trust to open in Ealing.

The Grand Union MAT is a formal partnership between local schools committed to supporting each other.

Gerry Wadwa, Executive Headteacher Grand Union MAT, commented that "this partnership is allowing both schools to reap benefits. Featherstone teachers are providing some additional specialist Maths and English teaching for Year 5 and 6, but are also learning about just how much the Primary curriculum has changed and what we need to do at Featherstone to ensure our Year 7 curriculum builds upon this."

Harinder Rana, Headteacher Woodlands Academy said "Its a very exciting time to be part of Woodlands Academy. We are committed to working in close partnership with our parents to continue the excellent and are now offering full day wrap around Nursery Care in response to parents needs."
