Science Professor Meets Southall Students

Lord Robert Winston visits Featherstone School in Science week

Lord Professor Robert Winston, leading fertility and genetics expert and television presenter paid a visit to Featherstone School.

His visit took place during the annual Science Week and Lord Winston delivered a lecture to students who were joined by others from Greenford, Brentside, Northolt and Elthorne Park High schools.

His talk, focused on ethics and genetics, pushed the students to think outside of the box by using historical medieval paintings, court case rulings, politics and medical examples to make them consider how they can apply ethics to science.

Event organiser, Ms Thurka Jeyachandran, Head of Applied Science, said "It was such a privilege to have Professor Winston talk to the students. He really challenged them and spent a great deal of time afterwards chatting to them and answering their questions.''
