A 90-year-old widower from Northolt has been left devastated after thieves broke in and got away with a number of items including his late wife's jewellery.

It happened on 17 February when the thieves went through Walter Brown's personal belongings and took 51 sovereign coins, which he had been collecting for 25 years.

Items of his late wife's jewellery were also stolen including a s a gold necklace with a gold Concorde on the end, a rare item which Mr Brown had given to his wife from when he worked at British Airways.

Gold bracelets, silver rings, a watch and other jewellery were taken in the robbery.

Mr Brown has spoken to the Metropolitan Police about his heartbreak. Officers said Mr Brown is devastated, and had planned to leave the items to his grandchildren before they were taken.

PC Luke Case from the Metropolitan Police said: "The public can really help us try and restore Walter's life collection and locate the offenders. The items stolen are very recognisable and someone must be trying to sell them."
