Ealing could have its own Hollywood style 'Walk of Fame' in the new Filmworks development.

In recognition of the long and important history of Ealing Film Studios, the oldest in the world, it's being proposed that flagstones paving the way to the new cinema should be inscribed with names of various former actors who, over the past 6 decades, have made films, shows and TV series from the iconic site.

Since 1910 when the first screen version of Hamlet was made, Ealing has been the oldest continuously working studio production facility in the world. From the Ealing Comedy's to Monty Python to the more recent Downton Abbey, The Durrells and The Crown, EFS has played a pivotal role in the film and television industry.

Some of those who have worked in the studios can be seen on the walls at Stage 6 just across the road. The Red Lion Pub was known as Stage 6 (as there are only 5 'official' stages in the Ealing Film Studios) and became the watering hole for many film celebrities particularly during the Ealing Comedy era, stars can still be spotted here.

The paving stone idea idea is gaining traction locally after being suggested by the Ealing History Group, and has been met with an apparently favourable response from Ealing Council officers who have put Filmworks in touch with the Ealing History Group (EHG) who are proposing the idea.

If it gets approval EHG would be interested to hear which names should be included. Tony Moore From the group is hoping the idea will become a reality and says, ''This would indelibly honor the world famous studios, as part of Ealing's heritage and would for sure be a great tourist attraction to the Ealing area.''

We have asked the developers, St George, to provide an update regarding the cinema development and their view on the 'Walk of Fame' idea.
