Ealing Council has intervened to try and sort out a dispute involving pupils at a Southall school.

Year 10 and 11 pupils from Villiers High School have been protesting at the dismissal of a maths teacher who had been at the school in Boyd Avenue, for 29 years.

Hundreds of pupils have been staging protests after the teacher was sacked following a disciplinary hearing.

Ealing NUT has announced it is standing by him and is to hold a two-day strike at the site next Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Council is arranging a meeting with the head-teacher Juliet Strang and school governors.
