Park users were advised to keep away from the site whilst the authorities dealt with the situation

An Ealing council spokesperson said:

“As soon as we were aware that there was an illegal encampment at Pitshanger Park we took immediate action alongside the police and our contractors, Park Guard, and visited the site to commence the checks and assessments that we are obliged to carry out. These are now complete, we will begin formal action to move the encampment on. This normally takes around five working days.''

It has taken less time than anticipated

and Cleveland and Hobbayne police were happy to report:

''Ealing council officials with the assistance of local officers have issued a section 77 notice today to the travellers on Pitshanger park.

''The travellers in Pitshanger park have now left. Thank you to the residents for their patience while the police & council dealt with this.''

An Ealing Council spokesperson added : '' The travellers at Pitshanger were issued with a Direction to Leave notice which they followed. If they hadn’t it, our legal team would have been obliged to apply to the magistrate’s court for a S78 removal order. This group followed the direction to leave notice so the process was quicker than with other groups that have not.''
