Construction has started on a new 'green' social rent housing scheme next to the Havelock Estate in Southall.

Toplocks Depot, is a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC) and Housing Association Catalyst who are delivering the scheme, has committed to protect the site’s biodiversity as a condition of planning permission.

The plans include 26 new homes, new roads and a new pedestrian and cycle link to the adjacent Havelock estate, which Catalyst is regenerating in partnership with Ealing Council.

Designed by Conran + Partners, the estate will include new landscaping, green roofs on a number of the new homes and a central green with a play space. Catalyst has also committed to planting an orchard in the nearby Glade Lane Canalside Park

There will be a footbridge over the adjacent dock, creating a new pedestrian and cycle link to the Havelock estate and supporting the Mayor of London’s goals to improve access to nearby green space.
