A twenty-six-year old man from Southall along with another man has been accused of terrorism offences after being arrested at Dover.

Imran Khawaja, 26 of Southall has been charged with Section 5 Terrorism Act 2006 - preparing to commit terrorist acts; Section 54 Terrorism Act 2000 - receiving training in the use of firearms; and Section 8 Terrorism Act 2006 - attending a place for terrorist training.

Tahir Bhatti, 44 from Watford, Hertfordshire has been charged with Section 5 Terrorism Act 2006 - assisting 'A' to commit terrorist acts.

On Tuesday, 3 June, at approximately 23:00hrs, officers from SO15 Counter Terrorism Command arrested two men at Dover on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

Officers have searched a number of addresses in West London and an address in Hertfordshire as part of the investigation under Schedule 5 TACT. The charges do not relate to preparation of acts of terrorism within the UK.

They will both appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates' Court tomorrow, Friday, 13 June.
