Local school teacher recognised in annual awards
A teacher at a school in Greenford has won a top prize. Elaine Nieva, has been awarded ' Supply Teacher of the Year' and gets a much needed break for two at a Champneys Health spa. In nominating Elaine the Staff Absence Manager commented: ''Elaine first started working in our school two years ago and she was keen and enthusiastic from day one. Elaine helped to develop the current schemes of work and incorporated new ideas into lessons. ''Elaine took on several challenging children at a crucial time of year with incredible results. Not only did she gain their trust but she enabled them to exceed their predicted grades. Elaine is now working as a SEN teacher at our school and works in small groups of statemented and vulnerable students. Elaine has excellent literacy skills and has enabled grades to rise considerably.''
Elaine was one of 14 supply teachers to be shortlisted from school nominations throughout the UK. It was the level of endorsement for Elaine that really impressed the ITN Mark Directors, who decided that she should win the title of ITN Mark Education Supply Teacher of the Year. ''We are really delighted Elaine has won this award. She is extremely talented and truly dedicated to teaching. Elaine really deserves this recognition, as well as some well earned rest and relaxation with the spa break prize.''
