The clean-up operation is contunuing after Storm Ciara hit the UK.

In Ealing fences were down and a number of trees uprooted throughout the borough.

A council spokesperson said: “Since the arrival of Storm Ciara on Sunday morning the council’s tree service has received around 30 reported incidents of fallen trees or branches. Our contractors were working all day Sunday and Sunday night clearing obstructions to keep our streets and roads clear.

“We have a priority system for incidents that are reported and are still working to respond to a number of them. 15 officers have been working on clearance today, we are aiming to respond to all incidents by the end of this week.”

There have been major transport and travel problems with flights from Heathrow and Gatwick disrupted. Railways also faced disruption with the Piccadilly line part suspended on Sunday after signal failures and a tree on the line near East Acton.

Energy companies say 675,000 homes throughout UK lost power during the storm, with 18,500 properties across east and southeat of England still without power at 5am Monday morning..

The Met Office issued more weather warnings across the country with alerts for snow ice and wind across Scotland and northern England.
