After serving Ealing North as MP for 22 years Steve Pound has given his farewell speech in the Commons.

He said he was leaving the house with great sadness but joked that he was tipped over the edge after getting a message from his local doctor's surgery (Argyle) inviting him to an 'end of life seminar'.

The popular former MP, who was elected in 1997, has made friends across the political divide and thanked his wife, his team, political colleagues,all who work behind the scenes in the Houses of Parliament and his constituents of Ealing.

The 71-year-old says he plans to keep active in his retirement, and will go back to the allotment as well as devote more time to following his football team - Fulham.

James Murray the Deputy Mayor of London for housing has been selected to contest the seat for Labour.

The other candidates declared so far are:

Anthony Pickles - Conservative
Henrietta Bewley Liberal Democrats
Jeremy Parker - Green

All candidates wishing to stand must submit nomination papers by 4pm 14 November.
