Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh of the Homicide and Major Crime Command leads the investigation - he said:

"The investigation into Jason's murder remains ongoing and this latest arrest shows we are making progress to identify all those responsible for the attack.

"On Monday, 30 April a 17-year-old male will stand trial for Jason's murder. However, there were others involved that night and my message is clear - you will be arrested and put before the courts to face the consequences of your actions."

Jason was murdered following a brutal, premeditated attack in Newnham Close, Northolt at around 22:30hrs on Saturday, 18 November 2017 after a night out with his friends.

Two mopeds with pillion passengers were involved in the attack. Those passengers were not wearing helmets so would have stood out.

Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses and those with information to come forward and contact the incident room on 0208 785 8099 - alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

= There have been four previous arrests in this investigation:

A 17-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of murder on 30 November - he has been charged with murder and will appear for trial at the Old Bailey on Monday, 30 April.

Three other males - 18; 16 and 17 - have all been released with no further action
