A murder investigation is underway after a teenager died after being stabbed by a gang who fled on scooters on Saturday night in Northolt.

Police were called just before 10.30pm on Saturday, 18 November to Newnham Close, Northolt to reports of a male stabbed.

The victim, an 18-year-old man, was taken to a London hospital, where he remained in a life threatening condition until Tuesday, 21 November when he sadly passed away. His family have been informed.

His death is now being investigated by detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command.

A 17-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of GBH on Monday, 20 November, and taken to a west London police station. He has since been bailed to return on a date in mid-December.

The investigation is being led by Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh. He said: "This was a brutal and apparently pre-planned attack on a young man. He was stabbed multiple times with a large knife with his attackers intent on inflicting fatal injuries.

"At this early stage it is believed that a group was involved in the attack on the young victim. They are understood to have arrived on two scooters before chasing the victim, stabbing him and then returning to their scooters and riding off. Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances. I would urge anyone with information on this attack to contact my team on our incident room number. There are people out there who know who was involved and what they did. I need them to call us as soon as possible. Equally, if you were there or passing through the area and have not yet spoken to police, I would implore you to get in touch."
