Police continue appeals for information after stabbing on Trinity Road

Two men have appeared in court charged in connection with a stabbing in Southall.

Gaurav Sharma, 33 of no fixed address and Jaswinder Singh, 27 , of Saxon Road, Southall, appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on 23 August, charged with the murder of 38-year-old Mohamed Afzal.

They will next appear in custody at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 27 August.

Police were called by London Ambulance Service at around 19:50hrs on Wednesday, 20 August to Trinity Road, Southall after a man was found suffering stab wounds.

The man was taken to a central London hospital where he was pronounced dead at around 23:45hrs.

A post-mortem examination took place on Friday, 22 August, and gave cause of death as stab wounds to the chest.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating. Acting Detective Chief Inspector Luke Marks, who is leading the investigation said: "We are appealing for witnesses and would invite anyone who was in or around Southall Broadway that evening, in the Trinity Road area, that thinks they saw or heard anything suspicious to please call our incident room.

"We are also keen to hear from anyone who feels they have any information about the murder that may assist our investigation." Any witnesses or anyone with any information should call the incident room at Hendon on 020 8358 0400 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Three people were arrested on August 21.

Warrants were executed at four addresses in and around Southall and at one, two men were arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody at a west London police station. They were later charged as above. A man who was arrested earlier in the day has been bailed over the murder until late September pending further enquiries.
