Impact of the pandemic left charity unable to cover costs
A local playgroup which has operated for 55 years is to hold its last session this Friday (21 October). The South Ealing Playgroup was unable to recover from the financial impact of the pandemic and the committee which runs it says it has been forced to make the difficult decision to close. The team has helped raise generations of children in the area. Two of the remaining employees have worked at the playgroup for over 14 years each. The playgroup is a charity and the parent volunteer committee are working to close the financial gap needed to pay full redundancy for staff. It has set-up an online fundraising page and are holding a closing down sale on Saturday 12 November from 2-5pm at the Ealing Christadelphian Hall, Dorset Road, South Ealing, W5 4HX. All proceeds will go towards redundancy payments for staff.
Lara Correia, chair of the South Ealing Playgroup said, “it’s very sad that we have to close. Both my girls attended playgroup, the team created a wonderfully inclusive and safe environment for children to learn through play, become more independent and interact with others. Please donate generously to help support the staff.”
