Massive Scratchcard Win For Ealing Man

David Knowles nipped in to Haven Green shop and ended up £100,000 better off

A man from Ealing has a pint of milk and a lack of a queue to thank for a £100,000 top prize win on a National Lottery Scratchcard.

The lucky man, David Knowles,37 had popped to Ealing Broadway for some milk, and seeing no queue by the lottery terminal, he decided to treat himself to a Money Spinner £100K scratchcard.

David’s winning scratchcard was bought at Haven News on Haven Green by Ealing Broadway station.

David said: “My housemate and I occasionally buy a few scratchcards from this particular store at Ealing Broadway. Feeling like a treat and seeing no queue, which is a rarity in that shop, I decided to take it as a lucky sign and buy a scratchcard. Not for a moment did I believe it would be a £100K lucky sign!”

Stuffing the scratchcard in his pocket, David headed home for a late lunch and as he readied himself for a spot of gardening, finally decided to play his Money Spinner £100K scratchcard. He said:

“When I revealed three matching ruby symbols I’d already revealed some of the prize amount wording, and I remember glancing at it thinking ‘that doesn’t spell five or ten’ and being puzzled, until I revealed the full amount and then I was simply dumbstruck!

“I think I must have been in total shock because I left the scratchcard on the kitchen worktop and went outside to get on with the gardening. The friendly neighbourhood cat popped over the fence while I was pruning and, needing to tell someone or something my crazy news, I whispered in his ear ‘I’ve just won £100,000’. I have to say, he didn’t look terribly impressed!”

Two days later, once he’d come to terms with the lucky win, David decided to tell someone other than the local moggy and let his housemate in on his good fortune. David said:

“When I finally told him it had happened, he was over the moon for me. And, as it was also his birthday, I popped a couple of Money Spinner £100K scratchcards in his card too so he could try his luck.''

With David’s winning scratchcard now exchanged for a £100,000 deposit into his bank account, he’s starting to think about a few future plans and drawing up the list of jollies. He said:

“I am very fortunate that due to a number of previous wise investments I already enjoy a comfortable life but this win means I can treat those around me a bit more and maybe even enjoy a few sporting fixtures. I’m a Spurs fan so I’ll definitely be heading down to White Hart Lane a little more often and thinking further afield, I might shout a few friends a trip to Japan for the Rugby World Cup later in the year.

“I love live music so I’ll take a closer look at the listings and plan a few concerts into the schedule too. And because I’m feeling lucky, I may even head to Las Vegas to stay with a friend and see if my luck lasts!”

“But it won’t be one long jolly. A portion of the win will be invested wisely, most likely into a future property development I have in mind.”

The Money Spinner scratchcard offers a 1 in 3.84 overall chance of winning a prize. The card costs £5 and prizes range from £5 up to the top prize of £100,000.
