An Ealing runner who found a gap in the market has launched a greetings card company dedicated to runners with an extra special Ealing one.

Rachel Job had been working as Director of Programming for TV’s HISTORY channel but took voluntary redundancy and has developed a new range of cards.

She said, '' When I ran the London Marathon a few years ago I received good luck and well done cards which was lovely, but they were very generic. In one case the sender had crossed out one word and replaced it with ‘running’. It made me realise that people really want to send cards related to running, but they don’t exist”.

Running Cards UK has created 11 simple designs capturing running distances and themes every runner will identify with: ‘You smashed it! Well done on your first 5K’ and ‘Less than one percent of the population have run a marathon. That makes you pretty special’ are joined with the more comical: ‘Running is the answer. Whatever the question’ and ‘Run. Cake. Prosecco. Repeat. Not necessarily in that order.‘

Rachel took up running in her early twenties and now, in her late thirties, she has clocked up numerous races including three marathons. She is regular at her local Gunnersbury Parkrun, both as a volunteer and runner. She has recently qualified as a LiRF (Leadership in Running Fitness) run leader and is an active member of the Ealing Eagles Running Club.

Due to her long-standing involvement with the Ealing Half Marathon, as volunteer Team Leader, Rachel has created a special Ealing Half Marathon card which references their race motto and hastag #EalingFeeling.

Ealing Half Marathon Race Director Sandra Courtney said: “We’re delighted that Running Cards UK has chosen to design a card for the Ealing Half Marathon. All our runners train hard for the big day and many raise money for charity. Along with their race medal, this unique card is a lovely way to acknowledge their amazing achievement”.

The cards are available from Etsy or Ebay
