An 86-year-old woman has died after being hit by a lorry in Southall.

The collision occurred shortly before 2.31pm this Wednesday (30 May) at the junction of the High Street and Avenue Road.

An air ambulance attended but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Although she has not been formally identified, her next of kind have been informed.

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries although he was not arrested.

Temporary road closures were put in place on High Street, between Uxbridge Road and Southall Broadway. Motorists were advised to avoid the area.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are investigating.
