A recent meeting at Ealing Golf Club to discuss the issue of sewage discharge from the River Brent is reported to have made significant progress.

An outfall pipe has caused a considerable amount of pollution in this section of the river flowing through the golf course with damaging consequences for wildlife and the local community.

Under the auspices of James Murray MP, (third figure from the left in photo above), a meeting was called on 17 February 17th to bring together the different agencies involved. These included the Environment Agency, Thames Water, Ealing Council and Ealing Golf Club representatives.

Following the site visit shown in the photo a collaborative discussion took place to examine ways forward to deal with the issue. The dialogue was described as ‘most constructive’ and action points were agreed to deal with the various misconnection problems and the required rectification work. The different parties involved have agreed to re-convene at a later stage to discuss the progress made.

Alun Lloyd of Ealing Golf Club said, “Bringing the different agencies together in this manner is quite unique and James Murray deserves our fulsome thanks for making this possible. Everyone is optimistic that there will be positive outcomes from this collaborative venture and the Ealing Today Newsletter will be kept informed about the environmental improvements. “
