Okay, so yesterday I managed to run (and walk and at times feel like crawling) the London Marathon.

On a beautiful warm Spring morning, after a perfectly respected 30 second silence to remember those in Boston, myself and 36,000 other runners set off from Blackheath - most with the sole intent of finishing the 26.2 mile course and raising a lot of money for our personal charities.

All was going well until 8-9 mile mark, when my legs started to get a bit heavy. At 10 miles, my right knee decided to remind me that humans were not designed to run on tarmac for such ridiculous distances - this is why they invented the wheel.

However with the support from team Baker and the crowds - who were all absolutely wonderful and somehow got me round the Isle of Dogs I managed to cross the line on the Mall in just over 4 hours and 40 minutes.

Many thanks for everyone who sponsored me - it made the pain seem a little bit less, and a very worthy charity (in my opinion) has been given a very generous boost.

Fantastic day, fantastic memories, next year?? Well, never say never I guess. . . .

Quotation : Pain is temporary
