An Ealing charity is looking for 1000 people to help raise thousands of pounds over 100 hours - to help disadvantaged families in Kenya.

Raise the Roof Kenya, was founded by the 28-year-old Hanwell local, Holly Bantleman. She says:

''We’re asking for 1000 people to raise £100 in 100 hours, through a challenge or event of their choice. From quitting sugar or doing 1000 press ups, to holding a dinner party or knitting 1000 stitches, the challenges vary for each person. Raising £100 isn’t much, but when 1000 people do it, we’re looking at enough money to really make an impact on communities in Kenya.

''Last year, Ealing residents, local businesses and schools all took part and helped us achieve our goal – we had so much support from the community and we hope people will get behind it again this year.''

The rules:

· Attempt to raise a minimum of £100 over a continuous 100 hours

· Register by 31 May and complete your hours by 30 June

Annabell Rebello, an Ealing resident, is taking part by speaking only French for 100 hours. Annabelle said:

''Raise the Roof Kenya do amazing work and I want to help them continue to do that. Team 1000 is a bit of fun for a great cause and £100 is a really easy amount of money to raise, so I’m excited to take part!.''

Raise the Roof Kenya has recently built a vocational school in Kenya for underprivileged youth, which is now ranked number one in the district.

The money raised from Team 1000 will continue to support the school and surrounding community through education, training, healthcare, sporting endeavours and social enterprises. RTRK works with communities to build local visions of sustainable lives ensuring that the work they do becomes self-funding – so it will be run and managed locally.
