The Mayor of Ealing Cllr Munir Ahmed has cut the ribbon to mark the official opening of Greenford Avenue Post Office this Friday.

The branch re-opened at its former premises of 348 Greenford Avenue, Hanwell, the previous day.

The Post Office and pharmacy closed in March 2020 due to the resignation of the Postmaster. The new Postmaster is Ahmad Rana. He and his wife, Meryam, took on the shop last summer and refurbished it into a convenience store, which opened in November.

They successfully applied to re-open a Post Office alongside their shop which is open seven days a week.

The Mayor of Ealing Cllr Munir Ahmed, said, “A Post Office is at the heart of a community and it is wonderful to see the branch re-open with Ahmad an Meryam Rana who really care about the neighbourhood that they serve. It is open daily too, which is handy.”

Greenford Avenue Post Office’s opening hours are Monday to Saturday: 9am – 6pm, Sunday: 10am – 4pm. This is longer opening hours than before.

Postmaster Ahmad Rana said, “Customers and amazed and really pleased to have a Post Office once again on their doorstep. There are many elderly residents in the area and they sorely missed having a Post Office and the social interaction with people. I am already building up rapport with many of them as they have already started doing their shopping here and they have been very keen to have a Post Office again.

“This is a residential area and lots of passing traffic. There is free one-hour parking right outside and free parking nearby, so this is a very easy location to get to and we are open every day.”

Mohammed Islam, Post Office Network Provision Lead, said, “We are delighted to have restored a full-time Post Office to the Greenford Avenue area of Hanwell, as we know how important Post Office services are to a community.”
