An Italian restaurant in Haven Green which opened in 1994 has served up it's last pizza.

Pizza on the Green - PoG - closed its doors on Saturday (29th August) after 21 years of business.

Owner Jalal Meradji, 53 , who has worked in the restaurant business for 35 years, has decided to slow down and spend more time with his family.

A message left on the restaurant website now reads:

''After 21 years of Pizza on the Green, the ovens have been turned off, the kitchens been cleaned. We are sad to (say) Goodbye, it's time to go, there will be no more kneading of the pizza dough. Thanks for all of your support, it's been amazing! The memories we have are never fading. #ripPog"

The closure has upset many loyal customers who took to twitter to express their sadness over the news.
